VOICE

A week before Val died we went into Boston for a procedure and got the word she likely only had a few days to live. I asked her to sing some of the songs she sang when I was little. She didn’t like being recorded and was self-conscious about the way her voice sounded as her body was failing but was willing to let me record a little.

Pack up your sorrows
I didn't know the gun was loaded

These little clips are from a few years ago when Val was playing around with a friend’s recording equipment.

Rainbows all over your blues
Thrill of your charms
A kid who attended one of Val’s school programs at the Berkshire Botanical Gardens drew this likeness of her in his thank you note. Val used it as official picture in the Garden’s directory and on the door to her office.
